James J. Jeffries (1875 -1953) a.k.a. "The Boilermaker" - World Heavyweight Boxing Champion from 1899-1905, was born in Carroll.

Lon Chaney (1883-1930) "The Man of a Thousand Faces" - Silent Movie Actor.
Local legend states that Chaney's birth actually occurred here on his grandparent's farm near Carroll while his parents were visiting. It is believed that his birth was not recorded until his parents returned home to Colorado Springs.

Alice Kindler (1908-1995) Concert Pianist - accomplished, respected musician and teacher. As a young woman, she had the honor of playing at Steinway Hall in New York City. For many years, she taught children to play and appreciate the piano.
